LeRoy Grannis was blessed to grow up beachfront. He was a water warrior from a young age. By 5 years old he was body surfing in the ocean with his father. LeRoy soon grew tired of just swimming and made himself a wood bellyboard. The bellyboard was often brought on vacation to his mother's house in Florida and used extensively.

In 1931 Grannis started kneeboarding on a piece of pine wood that he sculpted into a water craft. Soon after, Grannis started borrowing stand up surfboards from friends in Hermosa, and eventually became a member of the Palos Verdes Surf Club

Grannis eventually grew up and had a hard time balancing school, work, surfing and family life. He studied at UCLA until the Depression, after which he had to quit and take a job as a carpenter.

Grannis later found himself a job with Pacific Bell through some surfer friends of his that worked there. With a consistent job, he was able to develop his photography skills, which would eventually lead to a new career.

LeRoy has his first taste of success with photos being published in Doc Ball's book California Surfriders. He was becoming more involved with the surfing coming, surfing in contests in his free time and assisting the United States Surfing Association.

Grannis eventually had too much on his plate with surfing, work and family life and ended up with an ulcer. His doctor recommended that he take some time off from his job to recover. During his time off, Grannis started getting more serious with his photography practice. As his skills improved he started having some of his work published in magazines like Surfer, Reef and Surfing Illustrated.

Grannis is credited with being one of the most important photographers of his time period because of the vast amount of photographs he took documenting the surf culture. He also stood out from the crowd because he invented a contraption that would allow him to change film in his camera while staying out in the water.

Grannis spent 10 years photographing the world's best surfers in Hawaii and California. He later became the photo editor of Surfing Illustrated and International Surfing which he help start.

Grannis's work has not gone unnoticed. He was awarded best photographer of 1966 by the International Surfing Hall of Fame, in 2002 awarded a lifetime achievement award, and also had an article featured on him in Surfer's Journal.

Recently Grannis's photos have been featured in surf films such as Riding Giants and in a limited edition book titled LeRoy Grannis: Birth of a Culture.

MLM, which is an acronym for Multi Level Marketing, is an amazing success formula for working from home, using the POWER of the Internet and achieving your personal and financial dreams!

This business model is used by hundreds of companies to move their goods and services to the end consumer. In this article, my goal is to provide you with information on what this industry is and what it is not.

You can only make an informed educated decision as to whether or not this business concept if right for you if you have the required information upon which to make that decision. I hope to provide some of that information in this article.

Multi Level Marketing is nothing more that a business model that uses independent distributors with a multi level commission payout plan to move products from production to the consumer.

There are many myths about MLM companies, including that they are illegal pyramid schemes or scams. For true Multi Level Marketing companies, nothing could be further from the truth. Unfortunately, those who believe these myths, simply do not understand how MLM companies work.

The first thing that you need to know is that MLM is not illegal and it is not a pyramid scheme. While the organizational structure resembles a pyramid in shape, this is true of almost all businesses. There are far more workers in the lower ranks of any business then at the top, if not, the business would collapse. Not everyone in the company can be CEO or Vice President. If fact, Multi Level Marketing companies are one hundred percent legal and many multi-million dollar companies use this business model to market their products.

So what's the big attraction to MLM companies and programs? Well, it represents a wonderful opportunity for the "little guy" to start his own business on a part time basis and make a whole lot of money provided he or she is willing to put in some work! This is not a get rich quick scheme and work is involved, no matter what some MLM recruiters would like you to believe.

The magic of MLM is that independent distributors earn commissions not only for their own efforts, but also on the efforts of other distributors that they recruit into the business. Earning 1% of a hundred peoples efforts is always better than earning 100% on your own efforts, as John Paul Getty noted.

The term "multi level" comes from the process where by one distributor recruits other people to become distributors and the new distributors are placed under them in what is known as a downline. Each distributor is paid a retail commission on the products they sell themselves, and a wholesale commission on the products their downline sells (down to some designated level).

The more people a distributor can recruit for his downline, the larger will be their total commissions. The number of levels that a distributor will earn override commissions on will depend upon the company's compensation plan but five to seven or more levels is not unusual. These wholesale override commissions can quickly add up for distributors with a large downline.

Thus if a distributor can teach his or her downline members to be successful, then then they will be rewarded by increased earnings themselves. To paraphrase what Zig Zigler once said, you can get anything you want if you help enough others get what they want. By helping others succeed, a distributor helps themselves.

In addition to selling products directly, recruiting, training, and retaining others becomes the key to earning a large stable residual income with Multi Level Marketing. It is not easy, but it is very rewarding.
